About ShortStockScanner.com
Your Educational Resource for Technical Analysis
Our Mission
ShortStockScanner.com was created to help traders and investors understand technical analysis and identify potentially overbought stocks in the US market. We provide free educational tools that analyze over 100 tech stocks using proven technical indicators.
Our goal is to democratize access to technical analysis tools that were once only available to professional traders. Whether you're learning about the markets or refining your strategy, our scanner provides valuable insights into market conditions.
What We Offer
- Real-Time Stock Scanner: Our algorithm scans 100+ tech stocks every hour during market hours, analyzing RSI, price momentum, volume patterns, and other technical indicators.
- Short Signal Scoring: Each stock receives a composite score (0-100) based on multiple overbought indicators. Scores above 60 indicate strong signals; above 70 is extreme.
- Virtual Portfolio: Practice your strategies with virtual money. Track positions, set stop losses, and learn risk management without financial risk.
- Educational Content: Our blog features daily analysis, educational articles about technical analysis, and market commentary.
- Risk Management Tools: Automated trailing stops, earnings blackout periods, and position limits help you learn proper risk management.
Our Methodology
Our scanner uses a proprietary scoring system based on four key technical factors:
RSI (Relative Strength Index)
Measures momentum and identifies overbought conditions. RSI above 70 indicates a stock may be overextended.
Price Momentum
Analyzes 1-month price changes. Large gains often precede mean reversion.
Volume Analysis
Compares current volume to 20-day averages. High volume on rallies can signal exhaustion.
Price Position
Examines where the stock closed relative to its daily range. Closing near lows suggests selling pressure.
Educational Purpose Only
ShortStockScanner.com is designed purely for educational purposes. We use virtual money and simulated trading to help users learn about:
- Technical analysis and indicator interpretation
- Risk management principles
- The mechanics of short selling
- Market dynamics and stock behavior
We do not provide investment advice, and our signals should not be used as the sole basis for any real trading decisions. Always consult with a qualified financial advisor before making investment decisions.
Why Focus on Short Signals?
Most stock scanners focus on finding stocks to buy. We took a different approach by focusing on identifying potentially overbought conditions. Understanding when stocks may be overextended is valuable for:
- Timing entries for long positions (waiting for pullbacks)
- Learning about market cycles and mean reversion
- Understanding technical indicators
- Educational short selling practice
Technology Stack
ShortStockScanner.com is built with modern, reliable technologies:
